Providence is calling a RN - Ostomy And Wound Care (0.6 FTE, Days) to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River , OR

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Ostomy And Wound Care that will be accountable for direct and indirect quality of care for patients according to the individualized needs of the patient, following the nursing process and in accordance with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process, assesses patient status, intervenes appropriately, and evaluates patient response

  • Establish a formal written plan of care for referred patients, documents specific nursing orders, and develops goals specifying expected outcomes of intervention

  • Assess health knowledge, learning abilities and educational needs of the wound care and ostomy patients and families and develops appropriate plans for teaching

  • Utilize all available resources and consults as necessary with members of the health care team in planning and developing individualized teaching and discharge plans

  • Timely completion of all necessary documentation

  • Function as a knowledgeable resource person to the nursing staff in areas of expertise, related to ostomy care, prevention and treatment of wounds of all types, and management of the incontinent patient

  • Identify staff learning needs, provides the necessary staff education

  • Participate as preceptor in the orientation of new staff and/or students as assigned by supervisor

  • Serve as a resource person to clinics, physician's offices, and businesses in the areas of expertise

  • Assure that the specialty service and clinic operate within financial constraints and productivity standards

  • Work closely with Materials Management, the Wound Care SIG and outside vendors as needed to coordinate availability of needed wound care products, and to improve quality of service to patients

  • Participate in product evaluations of new equipment and supplies related to areas of expertise

  • Review literature, methodology, outcomes, and implications of nursing research, and disseminates this information to clinical and medical staff

  • Assist with the development of nursing standards related to wound/ostomy care, including policies addressing clinic operation

  • Actively participate in quality management programs

  • Demonstrate advancement of professional nursing practice through both internal and external continuing education opportunities, membership in professional organizations, participation on hospital committees

  • Continued professional development

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of an accredited course in Wound, Ostomy and Continence

  • Current registered nurse license in the State of Oregon

  • Certification as a WOCN within one year of hire

  • Valid CPR card

  • Five (5) years of Nursing experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
