We are seeking a Activities, Transportation Coordinator Brookside Manor that will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing all facility-sponsored activity programs for the residents. Coordinates with other departments to develop resident-specific activity plan. Works with outside volunteers and vendors to provide multiple activities for residents.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Report observations/information regarding changes in resident’s behavior/condition to the caregiver staff, RN, or leadership in a timely manner

  • Participate in care/service planning conference to insure activities are centered on personal interests and realistic physical skills/goals achievable by the resident

  • Be responsible for the planning and implementation of a program for social and recreational activities for all residents. Is responsible for the planning of transportation to and from all activities. Therapeutic Activities for RCF Alzheimer’s Unit will be offered at least weekly:

  • Gross motor activities

  • Self-care activities

  • Social activities

  • Crafts

  • Sensory enhancement activities

  • Outdoor activities

  • Coordinate resident opportunities for individual and group socialization and to utilize and correlate activities and programs, which are sponsored by community groups to create a normal and realistic environment for community interaction within and outside the facility

  • Ensure activity areas are well maintained, stocked, and set up for planned activities

  • Attend all in-services/meetings and other programs for facility specialization and standards

  • Prepare and distributes a monthly calendar of events

  • Participate in QI activities

  • Maintain good rapport by interacting in conflict or stressful situations in a manner that facilitates constructive resolution

  • Purchase supplies and other materials for the Activity Department within budget

  • Communicate effectively and manages conflict in a positive manner

  • Be responsible for the scheduling, assigning tasks and overall supervision of Brookside Manor volunteers

  • Working closely with other department’s assists with assessments and orientation to maximize the level of functioning for residents

  • Be responsible for seasonal decorations around the community

  • Publicize upcoming activities and works hard to engage residents in activities of their choosing

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and can manage resident illnesses or accidents that occur during activities

  • Interview each resident upon move in and ensure there are activities that fit their needs


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • High School Diploma -OR- GED or equvalent experience

  • CPR and First Aid Certified (or training will be provided by employer within 30 days of hire date)

  • Valid driver's license

  • Driving record consistent with GOP Safe Driving Policy 330 Incident Point Matrix at time of hire

  • Experience working with elderly (i.e., volunteer work, senior services) demonstrating appropriate planning of activities and interventions which may be required to carry out activities with memory impaired residents.

  • Demonstrated experience in transporting people with special needs

  • Five (5) of Driving experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and moderate level of computer skill

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Associate's Degree -OR- Some form of continuing education in a related field (i.e., social services, activity certificate).

  • Current CDL

  • Extensive knowledge of both Hood River County streets
