We are looking for a Certified Surgical Technician with the General Surgery Department at St. Jude Medical Center.
Location: Fullerton, CA
Schedule: Full Time
Shift: Days, 10 hours
Role and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, the Scrub Tech performs the duties of the scrub nurse during operative procedures. Additionally, the Scrub Tech is responsible for surgical case preparation and post-procedure equipment follow-up.
Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with complete confidentiality and security. Nursing managers and coordinators shall have access to the complete medical record of patients under their care for clinical or health care operation purposes. The Administrative Supervisor's access of medical records relating to patients
not under his or her care shall be recorded through the hospitals electronic auditing function or by medical records department staff and may be reviewed by the Privacy Officer or designee. All members of the nursing staff shall have access to the complete medical record of patients who are on the floor or unit to which the staff member is assigned while on duty and working.
Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.
Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate care of surgical instruments and equipment.
Complies with department protocols on care and maintenance of specialty instruments.
Acts as a resource person within scope of practice for other staff members and physicians.
Provides information as appropriate regarding procedures, surgical equipment, and surgical supplies.
Takes an active role in identifying own educational needs and maintaining currency with new procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Graduate of a program accredited by the Association of Surgical Technicians.
License and Certification: Basic Life Support- Health Care Provider Level.
Experience: Proficient scrubbing in one or more: Complex Spine, Total Joints, Open Hearts (chest), and the Eye.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Experience: Two years recent clinical experience
