St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Building Maintenance Tech in Eureka, California
We are looking for a Building Maintenance Tech with the Plant Operations Department at St. Joseph Hospital Eureka.
Location: Eureka, CA
Schedule: Full Time - 80 biweekly hours
Shift: 10-hour Evenings
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Facility Engineering or Director of Facilities, the Facility Engineer performs various tasks required to repair, maintain and operate the physical plant.
Perform testing, maintenance and repairs on low and high pressure boilers, heat exchangers, steam system, valves, feed water pumps, DA tanks, hot water circulation, condensate pump and hydronic heating system.
Performs testing, maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers A/C units, exhaust fans, isolation rooms, associated computer control systems and filter changes.
Perform testing maintenance and repairs on Medical Air outlets, vacuum systems, medical compressors and 02-suction regulators.
Perform testing and maintenance on generators, operate manual by-pass system (transfer switches), required weekly and monthly testing, weekly testing of fuel and procedure for re-filling.
Perform plumbing repairs to sinks, toilets, piping, p-traps, faucets, clogs and install valve repair kits.
Perform electrical repairs to receptacles, switches, ballasts, fixture and small electrical equipment repairs.
Conduct fire drills, testing fire doors, re-setting fire panels and alarm systems.
Sweat cooper pipe, brazing, wire feed welding and pipe threading.
Perform repair and maintenance on the pneumatic tube system and computer.
Operate Lend and Schlage lock system and video surveillance system.
Perform assigned Preventative maintenance and repairs on hospital equipment.
Ensures that appropriate supplies and equipment are available, accounted for and used in a cost-effective manner.
Helps to provide a clean, comfortable environment for customers and others by taking appropriate safety precautions and responds to urgent safety situations effectively. Performs the duties required for security and attends training class.
Maintains current knowledge of fire and emergency preparedness procedures as outlined in the safety manual.
Observes safety procedures, especially with power tools and HazMat materials.
Organizes, prioritizes and completes activities and assignments in an efficient manner.
Demonstrates initiative in assisting others and performing other duties based on skill level and training orientation.
Quality Improvement Program:
Participates in department problem solving, suggests improvements, and facilitates change. CQI involvement on department level.
Fundamental ability to read and understand blueprints.
Uses sound judgment in determining operating conditions.
Ability to use tools, both powered and band types commonly used in hospital maintenance.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
H.S. Diploma or GED
Competent in Operations Engineer competency validation modules within 90 days.
License/Certification: Asbestos, Med Gas and Assaultive Crisis Training certifications within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
- Two (2) years Experience in hospital maintenance.
