Swedish Health Services Front Office Assistant CLN in Edmonds, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Front Office Assistant CLN (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Specialty Clinic Support at Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, WA.

Perform the following tasks for a practice site as required to support the practice site operations: answering phones, responding to questions and inquiries, greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, obtaining account information, maintaining patient electronic medical records, documenting in electronic patient record, reviewing and processing referrals, collecting copays, daily bank deposit, process medical records requests, Epic work queues, Epic in baskets, patient reminder calls, order interpreters, maintain prescription pick up log, use advanced knowledge of insurance plans to determine appropriate scheduling, must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment.

In this position you will:

  • Answers very busy multi line telephone system, routes calls to appropriate individual or area. Initiates phone messages in electronic medical record and answers complex questions to provide prompt, courteous and timely information to patients and visitors to the office.

  • Greets patients and assists with check in and out paperwork and questions, collects co- payments, and update accounts to reflect proper insurance information.

  • Schedules appointments for patients and explains office procedures to ensure their understanding.

  • Prepares for next day appointments by reviewing electronic medical record for current registration and signed consents.

  • Sort and route incoming/outgoing mail

  • Oversees waiting area, maintains and ensures cleanliness. Coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities to supervisor.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience in a medical setting, or hospital or a combination of education and direct work related experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Coursework in office practices
