Providence Groundskeeper in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Groundskeeper (Grounds, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position, you will:
Work with other grounds and facility staff as a team unit to effectively address concerns and issues. Explain clearly to co-workers the tasks & procedures needed to produce a desired outcome. Interact and cooperate with all hospital staff. Coordinate work tasks affecting other areas to minimize overall disruption and inconveniences.
Plan activities to efficiently utilize work time. Provide steady work effort during paid work hours. Take initiative to identify tasks that need to be accomplished. Effectively prioritize work assignments.
Complete projects/repair in a manner that seldom requires follow-up or corrections. Logically analyze symptoms and issues to accurately identify problems. Complete all documentation including time cards, purchase requests and work orders, in a timely and accurate manner. Complete work activities and performs site inspections in a manner which allows safe access on campus for patients, visitors, physicians and staff. Use materials and time in a manner which balances cost and quality.
Take responsibility for problems encountered & follows through to conclusion. Provide service in a calm manner with an objective of customer satisfaction. Promote customer satisfaction by effectively communicating the status of requested service.
Initiate & participate in training and learning of other staff members. Follow proper safety precautions, wears appropriate garments & equipment during the performance of work duties. Support & contribute to effective safety & risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and procedures, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting unsafe grounds conditions. Take initiative to learn new skills, systems and information pertaining to facilities functions. Demonstrate good knowledge and keeps necessary certificates current pertaining to the safe handling of chemicals used with Roads and Grounds work.
Is a dependable team member capable of being relied upon to be at work when scheduled. Demonstrate a willingness to work beyond scheduled work hours when needed due to workload demands. Ensure continuity of problem resolution, even if beyond normally scheduled work hours.
Demonstrate good understanding of snow removal practice, priorities, and techniques specific to Providence. Demonstrate understanding of pruning, lawn care, and watering needs specific to Providence campus. Demonstrate basic working skill for general grounds maintenance, including sign installations, fence repair, gravel clean-up, parking striping, garage cleaning repair, and exterior lighting. Demonstrate good equipment operating skills for lawn maintenance equipment, miscellaneous small equipment and where appropriate, the bobcat, sanding and plow trucks. Demonstrate good working knowledge of specialty area including the greenhouse growing operation, or greenhouse maintenance needs or basic preventative maintenance requirements for grounds tools and equipment.
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served
Required qualifications for this position include:
Alaska Drivers License required. Candidates with a valid out of state driver’s license have 30 days to obtain an AK State Drivers License.
One (1) year Grounds keeping experience.
