Providence Health & Services Clinical Manager - Post Operation Clinic - Forest View in Anchorage, Alaska


Providence is calling a Clinical Manager - Post Operation Clinic (Forest View, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Forest View in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • OPERATIONS: Manage patient information from the Surgery Center. Ensure clinical assessment of patient upon admission. Assigns work and responsibly directs staff. Actively involve patient and family in the collaborative plan of care. Provide direct nursing care on a regular and as needed basis

  • RESOURCE UTILIZATION: Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing and other services. Utilize staffing management principles to assure adequate supply of all necessary staff to perform patient care. Plan for seasonal fluctuations and anticipate market changes which may impact volumes. Assure patient care is delivered in compliance to standards utilizing cost-effective methods. Explore options for expanding services and providing different services. Assist in development of annual operating budget, involving staff and physicians, as appropriate. Develop, implement, evaluate and modify programs and services need to meet patient care and staff development needs

  • LEADERSHIP: Provide visionary leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Use leadership principles to anticipate and influence change. Determine resources and actions needed to accomplish objectives. Set priorities and manages time effectively. Identify potential problems/opportunities and plans contingent action. Develop new and unique ideas to improve existing systems or operations, when new organizational approaches are needed

  • QUALITY OF PRACTICE: Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and the delivery of services. Able to provide clinical care at the expert level and is a role model for staff in the clinical setting. Leads the unit in developing, modifying and implementing patient care standards, policies, procedures and protocols

  • COLLABORATION: Collaborate with all nursing staff, providers, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders. Create supporting systems that enable staff to jointly plan and deliver care. Role model collaboration and partnership with physicians, primary staff, patients, families and other departments. Schedule regular meetings with direct report staff to provide supervision, assure communication and to monitor facility operations. utilize various methods to communicate with staff

  • COMPLIANCE: Ensure high quality, cost-effective patient services which meet or surpass standards. Maintain and guide the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with state, Federal and other regulatory guidelines. Assure adequate preparation for, and participate in, regulatory compliance surveys

  • EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE EVALUATION: Maintain and use leadership, managerial, organizational and technical knowledge of areas of responsibility. Assume responsibility for obtaining information and expanding job knowledge and competency that reflects current practice. Obtain managerial specialty certification as applicable and able

  • RESEARCH: Stay informed of current evidence-based protocols and standards for the management for patients in the area of responsibility. Collaborate with physicians and staff to incorporate these protocols and standards into patient care. Assist in the development, implementation and modification of programs and services needed to meet patient care and staff development needs

  • ADVOCACY: Advocate for the protections and rights of individuals, families, communities, populations, healthcare providers, nursing and other professions, and institutions and organizations, especially related to health and safety

  • HUMAN RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP: Direct and administer assigned positions and functions to ensure high quality, cost-effective patient services which meet or surpass accreditation standards. Use appropriate interpersonal skills to guide others to accomplish objectives, facilitate teamwork, participation and cooperation. Delegate work so subordinates have the necessary direction, authority and skills to complete assignments. Assure timely performance evaluations that reflect validated competence, safety, and quality standards of practice. Develop and promote talents of the team and succession planning Counsel staff appropriately and is competent in conflict management.

  • Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska

  • 3 years of recent management or supervisory experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years of management experience in like sized unit

About Forest View

Forest View is a short stay facility and is licensed by the State of Alaska as an Assisted Living Facility, located in Building S of the Providence Health Park on Piper Street. Forest View provides a rapid recovery environment for patients requiring a variety of nursing and physical therapy services for a short period of time following their surgery at one of the local surgery centers in Anchorage. The pay scale of this position is non-union and the rate is between $38.39 and $57.60 based on years of similar experience.
