Providence Health & Services Anesthesia Support Technician in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Anesthesia Support Technician (Anesthesia, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Anticipate the equipment and supply needs of Anesthesia staff, initiates actions to expedite the surgery and assist in the care of the patient as needed by the anesthesiologist and the RN. Maintains adequate equipment needed for anesthesia staff use.
Clean, maintain, stocks, and stores anesthesia equipment. Decontaminates and cleans anesthesia equipment between cases, and terminally cleanse anesthesia machines at the end of the day. Completes daily cleaning records and maintain assigned logs.
Assist RN’s working if needed and available. Will assist in positioning, transporting, prepping, answering phones, and running errands if needed.
Assist with setting up anesthesia equipment and supplies in each operating room. Cleans and decontaminates equipment used in the anesthetic care of patients. Turns over anesthesia circuits between cases.
Organize & restock storage areas within the anesthesia workroom.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies in the anesthesia carts according to the established schedule, including medications and compressed gasses. Assess all safety factors associated with anesthesia machines and hoses and electric considerations.
Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and co-workers.
Communicate effectively with the Anesthesiologist and the RN or other caregivers regarding patient issues, family issues, MD issues, and equipment. Communicates in a compassionate manner to patients, families, and visitors.
Check and restock supplies and emergency equipment and replaces as instructed. Maintains and operates multiple pieces of equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Identify malfunctioning equipment, troubleshoots equipment problems, and refers more serious equipment problems to appropriate technical repair personnel.
Respond to pager or radio phone in a prompt manner.
Support and assist with orientation and/or preceptorship of new staff and/or students.
Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Competency include mandatory unit required competencies and BLS.
Required qualifications for this position include:
1 year external candidates must have one year clinical experience in a hospital or equivalent
Internal candidates must have equivalent competencies of an Operating Room Assistant II
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant
