Providence Health & Services Principal HR Consultant in Alaska
Providence is calling for a Principal HR Consultant . Candidates for this role may reside in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, California or Texas.
We are seeking a Principal HR Consultant to be responsible for serving as a strategic consultant/subject matter expert to Area CHROs and Caregiver Relations Consultants who face complex employee relations matters where expert knowledge and assistance is needed. They are responsible for identifying and assessing situations for compliance and policy concerns and making recommendations for resolution. In addition, the SHRC supports Labor and Employment Counsel in the investigation of legal matters, recommending and promoting consistent and best practice approaches to positive employee and labor relations, adherence to HR policies, compliance with regulatory and policy requirements and standards, investigations, review and oversight on Reductions in Force and project work. Additional areas of accountability include oversight on Caregiver Relations work product, mentorship of Caregiver Relations consultants, employee relations research, performance management consultations, identifying trends and patterns and need for critical intervention, labor relations research, dispute alternatives and policy development, effective record keeping, and data integrity. Provides SME expertise and appropriate competency-based systems to support appropriate process and protocol in adherence to regulatory requirements to include Federal and State employment, OSHA and other healthcare-related agency requirements. Maintains HR metrics and dashboards and reports out to other HR professionals so actions can be aligned with findings.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Conducts complex ER (Employee Relations) assessments and/or investigations of complex or high-risk situations, at times under attorney client privilege. Works collaboratively with Sr HR leadership and others, including legal counsel as appropriate, to address findings and make recommendations.
Identifies, assesses and makes recommendations on highly complex matters to include Title VII allegations
Serves as a strategic consultant to Senior HR Leadership on complex employee and labor relations matters where content and subject-matter expertise is needed.
Supports labor and employment counsel, both internal and external, in investigating and researching claims, responding to information requests/document production, and deposition support, preparation for mediation, arbitration and unfair labor practice charges.
Works collaboratively with CHRO and Caregiver Relations to manage risk and provide consistency in the administration and delivery of HR services (Risk Management, regulatory bodies, EEOC, state and municipal agencies--, ADA/LOA, Wage & Hour, Wrongful Discharge).
Identifies opportunities for problem resolution mediation to resolve issues between management and employees.
Provides SME expertise in reductions in force (DIA, WARN, OWBPA, Decisional Units, and Assessment Worksheets); With legal counsel, review Reduction in Force documentation and run analysis as appropriate for WARN and disparate impact.
Mentors Caregiver Relations Consultants and provides oversight on their investigations.
Provides advanced guidance to Caregiver Relations Consultants on employee relations matters where content and subject matter expertise is needed.
Collaborates with Caregiver Relations and Senior HR leadership to provide consultation to managers on corrective action and discipline.
Analyzes and interprets HR data and other data sources for trends and opportunities.
Advocates fair & consistent workplace practices in accordance with mission, values, and legal parameters.
Promotes and utilizes HR technology, metrics, and systems to support the overall needs of the business. Collaborates with Senior HR leadership and others if new tools are needed to ensure customers are provided trend reports and analytics in the most efficient manner.
Makes recommendations, drafts documentation and provides SME consultation on HR policies and procedures.
Provides employee relations expertise on projects. May lead projects.
Conducts periodic and regular audits for wage and hour compliance and other policy variation.
Provides training and education to all levels of the organization regarding interpretation and implementation of applicable laws, HR policies and new initiatives.
Serve as a SME to Caregiver Relations team to provide interpretation of CBAs.
May provide mediation for complex conflict resolution.
Serves as HR interface with advocacy and CHROs regarding employment-related local and state legislative initiatives.
Provides SME consultation on acquisitions/mergers, layoffs and reductions in force.
Serves as System subject matter expert in major process or protocol programs (DFW, RIF, Independent Contractor, etc. and oversees/consults on program development, implementation and changes
Conducts Integrity and Compliance investigations.
Mentors HR Consultants, sharing skill, expertise and experience and providing subject matter expertise to HRC.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
The Senior Human Resources Consultant designation will be based on business need and not all HRCs will automatically progress to Senior HRC roles.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
8 years experience in general human resources, or equivalent work experience, at exempt level, in multi-state/location, service line of business.
8 years demonstrated experience in the area of Employee Relations, Labor Relations, ADAAA, and leaves of absence.
Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
5 years project Management experience.
5 years experience in the specialty areas of Drug Free Workplace, Compliance, Performance Management, ADA/LOA.
5 years supervision of Human Resources staff or equivalent work experience.
HR Certification (SPHR/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SHRM-CP).
